A Word from The Writer:

The Monday Analysis - 30 January 2006

One week to go before the Big Game. And while the Steelers and the Seahawks get in some final practice sessions at home, the league moves slowly towards the 2006 season.

Coaching Carousel

Former Saints head coach Jim Haslett signed a three year deal to be the defensive coordinator in St. Louis.

Former Texans head coach Dom Capers is now with the Dolphins as Special Assistant to the Head Coach.

Former Jets defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson is now the Defensive Coordinator for the Vikings. Henderson was then brought in to Detroit to run the Lions' defense.

League sources indicate Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt will be offered the head coaching job in Oakland immediately following the Super Bowl.

Former Buffalo Offensive Coordinator Tom Clement is now the Quarterbacks coach in Green Bay.

The Falcons hired former Redskins quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrove to tutor Mike Vick in the offseason.

The Jets parted ways with offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger. Heimerdinger was reportedly upset over being passed over for the head coaching position that ultimately went to Eric Mangini, and thought it would be an awkward situation.

Steve Fairchild returned to the Buffalo Bills as offensive coordinator. Fairchild was the Bills' running backs coach during the 2001-2002 seasons.

The Saints hired former Rams interim coach Joe Vitt as linebackers coach and assistant head coach. The Saints also made Doug Marrone the offensive coordinator.

The Charger hired Jack Henry as their new Offensive Line coach. This is Henry's second stint with San Diego, after agreeing to a two-year contract. He previously worked under head coach Bobby Ross. Henry has been in New Orleans for the past six seasons.
