| A Word from The Writer: The Monday Analysis - 12 July 2004
More vacation time
before Training Camp. Rest up, players and coaches. It is bound to be one long
season! And, a last call for Bledsoe Bowl 87 (pending he is still playing by
then).
Patriots at
Buffalo
October 3rd: Calling All Pats Fans The Patriots travel
to Buffalo on October 3rd to play the Bills, and individual game tickets go on
sale July 17th. The
Monday Analysis is looking for a few good Pats Fans to travel to Buffalo for
the weekend and witness this Bills Destruction. Please send email
confirmation if you are interested. If tickets can be obtained, they will be
distributed on a first come basis. Get those inquiries in early! I am hoping
someone with a van shows some interest, so we can take a comfortable vehicle
to Buffalo! The first trek we
made was in 2002, and the three of us had a blast! Buffalo fans are all right
folks, and the spirit of football and competition is certainly in the air.
Early October should be great weather. Please reply as soon
as possible! Spaces are limited, and I need a positive head count before
July 17th. I cannot
make any promises afterward, but those who show late interest will be called
first as a space opens up. For more information,
drop me a line and I will be more than happy to talk you into the trip! Tickets go on sale
THIS SATURDAY, July
17th! Confirmation is required this week!
New Voice For Patriots'
Flagship WBCN
WBCN has hired Gary Tanguay host and Howie Sylvester as executive producer to
host the pre-game show for all Patriots games. The move came last week after
WBCN vice -president and General Manager Mark Hannon put out the replacement
for Bill Abbate, who has moved on to WBOS. Peter Brock remains as the colorman
for the pre-game show.
Tanguay comes on from New England Fox Sports, and has done Celtics and Bruins
half-time shows. Sylvester comes recently from WWZN, and will act as studio
producer. "WBCN
wanted sports credibility, and they're getting that," said Sylvester. "But
it's still going to sound like WBCN. I've always used a lot of music in the
features I produce. The opportunity is here to really do something with this
show. With only one game per week and great resources, why not do the best you
can?" Sylvester hastened to assert that wasn't a knock on the previous show.
"They didn't have a studio producer before," he said. "That's what I do." The Preseason games
are locally broadcast on WCVB-TV 5, with Don Criqui and Randy Cross in the
booth, and 5's own Mike Lynch on the sidelines. Patriots
and League Notes Top Ten
List of the Week 1. Lance Armstrong is
kicking butt in the Tour de France. He's had the Yellow Jersey twice, and is
looking to get it once and for all when they hit the hills! 2. Here's a good one.
I was out running today when a couple rode by on a motorcycle. The guy driving
was on his cell phone, yelling, "What? I can't hear you." Hey Jack, how about
driving and worrying about the phone call later. 3. Here's a
contradiction in terms: The Manning Passing Camp is going on right now, led by
Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning. Three quarterbacks and Zero Championships.
4. Sorry to sound
like a broken record, but this NFL Network is the bomb! I'm watching the
Falcons at Packers game from Week 1 2002 right now. Awesome. 5. Training Camp
cannot begin fast enough. 6. Nice and oddly
cool weather we've been having. When does Summer start? 7. I'm not excited
about another Manning in the NFL. 8. Nor am I excited
to see a 100% Mike Vick. 9. Thank God for the
All-Star break. We don't have to hear about those Losers in the Fenway for a
week or so. 10. Come one, come
all for the Trek to Buffalo! Drop me a line now! 12 July 2004 |
